The Assembly Rooms Theatre
Fully refurbished in 2019, thanks to a £2.4m investment by Durham University, this beautiful, historic theatre has been serving the city for over 120 years. In 2023 it was renamed the Sir Thomas Allen Assembly Rooms Theatre.

A well-equipped proscenium theatre, with scene dock to stage right. Scene dock is accessible from Palace Green, but this access is neither particularly wide, nor flat.

The venue has full disabled access for visitors, but not for performers - though it is "close". Please contact us if this is a concern.
