Fonteyn Ballroom @ Dunelm House
Dunelm House is the famous Grade II listed Brutalist Students' Union of Durham University. One might say it is somewhat "Marmite", as many Brutalist buildings are - but most importantly for the Fringe, it’s in the centre of Durham, close to our other venues, in a spectacular setting and we are very grateful to The Students' Union for supporting us and allowing us to use this exciting venue. The ballroom space, on the lowest floor of the building, is named after the renowned ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn, who was a previous Chancellor of Durham University.

Dunelm House is set over 5 floors (with no lift) and has 2 performance spaces, the Fonteyn Ballroom and Vane Tempest.

The lack of a lift and multiple stairs makes access a challenge and if this might be an issue please contact us to discuss.

There is a large cafe / bar area open to audience and performers.

The performance space in the Fonteyn Ballroom is an 8m(w) x 6m(d) flat floor, and we will be installing a portable dance surface.
