Fonteyn Ballroom @ Dunelm House
Dunelm House is the famous Grade II listed Brutalist Students' Union of Durham University. One might say it is somewhat "Marmite", as many Brutalist buildings are - but most importantly for the Fringe, it’s in the centre of Durham, close to our other venues, in a spectacular setting. We are very grateful to The Students' Union for supporting us and allowing us to use this exciting venue. The ballroom space, on the lowest floor of the building, is named after the renowned ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn, who was a previous Chancellor of Durham University.

Bar (outside performance space) YES

Notes for those with access needs

There are 3 flights of stars in a straight line with separate wall mounted chair lifts. Please allow plenty of time if you need to use the stair lifts, as it can take 20 minutes to get from top to bottom. Please note that for Health and Safety reasons, our staff will be unable to assist you in transferring from chair to chair lift.

The space could also be accessed by ramp from outside, via an alternative entrance. However, please notify us in advance via [email protected] if you would like to use this route
