A new venue for us in 2025.
The Music School is in the oldest part of the range of buildings that form Durham University’s Music Department and is their current performance hall.
The building was founded as a grammar school in 1541, during Henry VIII’s Reformation, and rebuilt in 1661 during the Bishopric of John Cosin.
For us it's just a stunning and atmospheric venue, an end on performance space that is well resourced for lighting and sound.
It seats 60 in the main auditorium and 15 in the gallery above.
There performance space is on the ground floor and there is level access from Palace Green.
Performance space An end on stage, with no wings or immediate backstage / offstage area. Stage access is through the auditorium only. Stage raised 0.38m off the floor. The space can be used with the fantastic and historic window behind, or curtains drawn to create a black box stage.
